Start-up looks to clean up with eco-friendly 'vending machines' offering cheaper rates.
Nick Harris is on a mission to revolutionise what he feels is an overpriced, 'dirty' dry cleaning industry which uses unnecessary, harmful chemicals - particularly perchloroethylene (perc) - to clean clothes.
He's hoping to tackle the industry on price and health through his new venture VDrop, which launched last month off the back of his cleaning business VClean Life.
VClean Life is a company that’s in the process of rolling out 200 of their ‘VDrops' - 100 percent green-cleaning vending machines - around the London Underground network. The concept of their “green-cleaning revolution” is simple: The customer drops their dirty laundry off at a VDrop and pays for the service through the app. Next, VClean Life’s fleet arrives, taking the laundry and cleaning it with biodegradable detergent and conditioners. The customer then returns 24 hours later to collect their clothes, using a personalised QR code that they download through the app.
